Don't.

Seriously, don't ship things here. i3Detroit's location is not reliably staffed during business hours, and if someone is around, they're unlikely to be able to safely stop what they're doing, run all the way across the building to the door, and answer it in the amount of time that a delivery driver hangs around.

Delivery drivers don't like leaving things outside unprotected, so the parcel just gets flagged as undeliverable, and eventually returned to sender. Or they leave an InfoNotice and you end up having to pay $7 to redirect it to a store location for pickup.

Just have it addressed to your home in the first place, it's much easier.

In more detail:

Personal items

Cannot be shipped to i3, ever. If you mistakenly place an order with i3's address, cancel it. Ship it to your home instead.

It is explicitly forbidden to use i3's address as your home address, or as your business address, or in any other manner not related to i3's own operations.

If you need a not-home address, get a PO box or some other commercial mailbox service. Do not use i3's address.

Items for i3 itself

It's much easier if you place the order with your home address instead. When it shows up on your porch, bring it to i3.

Items for i3 itself, but the sender can't be talked out of sending it here

Looks like you're taking a day off your day-job to be at the space when it arrives. Otherwise, it's likely to get returned as undeliverable.

Items for i3 itself, and it requires a loading dock or forklift

Make sure the logistics company gives you a specific delivery window so you can take time off work and meet the truck here.

We don't have a loading dock, but we do have a pallet stacker which is sort of like a forklift if you throw enough muscle behind it. Rustle up some help with that -- it weighs over 900 lbs ``empty``.

If you find a parcel outside the door

If it's addressed to i3, open it and figure out what to do with it. Notify whoever seems appropriate, perhaps by posting in the Slack channel for whatever zone it seems to apply to. If in doubt, try #space-business on Slack.

If it's not addressed to i3, post a photo to #space-business on Slack so we can identify if it's a pattern where someone's using i3's address as their business address again, in violation of the rules.

If you're a shipper trying to send something to i3

Please don't. Talk to the appropriate Zone Coordinator and arrange shipping to an address where they can receive packages.
