Goal

Create a more cost-effective version of FilaBot's FilaBox

Target price

$30/box, including both materials and estimated manufacturing costs

Submission Transfer

Required Features

  • Identical dimensions, interior and exterior, to the FilaBox
  • Front face must be clear
    • View type of filament
    • View desiccant to check whether it needs baking
    • View remaining filament level
  • Analog hygrometer in front face to indicate internal humidity
  • Exit hole for filament in similar size and location to FilaBox'
  • Spool support similar to FilaBox' to accommodate differing sizes of spool

Bonus Project

Goal

Digital reporting of humidity per box, twice per day

Reporting

  • Initial thought is a DHT22 tied to an ESP8266 module, reporting on MQTT
    • Box ID
    • Battery level
    • Humidity level

Runtime

  • 30-45 days, assuming 2 reporting periods a day
  • Accepted Battery
    • COTS lithium rechargable with management circuits
    • COTS nickel rechargable, either permanently mounted or removable
