Covid Rules Updates

Allowing Minors in the space

Background

  • Some people want to use the space to work on projects with their kids, which supports our mission as an organization
  • Minors are not explicitly prohibited in the Executive Orders we're following
  • Minors were recommended against by the lawyer we consulted in the spring. However that was most likely a recommendation for the first round of opening and may not apply more long-term.
  • This would increase i3's risk of not being able to follow all Covid-related rules/laws by some amount
  • 2 board members are strongly opposed to this idea for liability reasons. (The other 5 board members are either ambivalent or for the idea)

Proposal:
Change the Covid Rules:

3. i3 will be closed to the general public, however adult guests are still welcome as long as they are performing in-person manufacturing activities as described above.

Laser Zone

  • I could use someone's help with a small amount of cutting and welding steel to get Wolverine back up and running. Talk to Mike for details on what needs to be done.

Welding Zone

  • Classes have been going on outside of i3. If interested contact Jody.

Wiki

  • Planning to write more wikibot code to send out reminder emails for meetings, completed minutes, and action items
  • Return of wiki wine wednesdays, virtually?

Space Project Updates

  • The architects say they will be sending the updated estimate any day now.

SIGs

Bylawsish

Mtfurlan (talk) started a mailing list thread trying to find out what people thought was important in meetings.

Goals for i3 meetings:

  • short
  • no surprise proposals
  • good faith efforts by members
  • high grassroots engagement

User:Pajamapuma started a page about how to modify Robert's Rules for i3.

Next steps: Continue to figure out how to cut down the robert's rules procedural bullshit till it fits what we might actually be willing to do. Alternately, find a new set of rules but that seems hard.
