Intro

Rules

You must be authorized to use any of the powder coating equipment, including the gun.

Instructions

IMPORTANT: The gun requires compressed air to function. Make sure the air compressor is on (press the green button if not). Make sure the valve to A side is on (on the wall to the right of the air compressor).

Check the Color

  1. Look at the green tape on the gun to see the current powder color.
  2. The color name should be written on the green tape.
IMPORTANT: If you change colors, you must write the new color name on green tape and place it on the gun container. Once powder is removed from the original bag, you will not know what color it is. Many powders look similar and there are multiple types of black, so labeling is required.
  3. If you want a different color, find the correct color on the shelf.

Changing Colors

  1. Return unused powder to the correct labeled container to prevent cross-contamination.
  2. Use the vacuum with the DUST BAG installed to clean the gun.
  3. Vacuum:
    • Both sides of the nozzle
    • The tube inside the powder container
  4. If needed, use a paper towel to wipe out any remaining powder.

Ground the Part

IMPORTANT: Always double-check the ground wire. The ground wire should already be attached to the metal bar that your part hangs from, but always verify it is connected before painting.

The powder coating gun electrically charges the powder. The ground connection allows the powder to bond properly to the metal part. If the ground is not connected, the powder will not stick correctly.

Hang the part following the instructions for the Powder Coating Spray Booth.

Turn On the Powder Gun

The power switch is on the front of the control box.

Apply Powder

  • Keep shaking the gun while pulling the trigger.
  • Apply an even coat to the part
