i3Doorbell
Problem
Existing doorbell is quite jarring, even after being wrapped in fabric. (It works a little too well.)
Proposed solution
Replace mechanical doorbell with a digitally-controlled speaker (annunciator). Pressing the doorbell button plays some kind of alert sound effect (TBD).
Keep the mechanical doorbell as a failsafe (if the digital system fails, re-enable the mechanical doorbell).
Sound volume reacts to ambient noise. Louder room = louder doorbell.
Speakers might be a 70V system or based on home automation (TODO: research cost of implementation). Possible to integrate noise sensors and annunciators with Home Assistant (for "virtual doorbell" functionality?).
Consider a central doorbell controller on A side which monitors the doorbell button, and satellite annunciators which adjust volume to match their local noise level. How to do this without adding 5 more IoT devices that will need administration?
Vanity sounds

In the future, the keyfob reader, through a HelloClub integration, may be able to report who has just unlocked the door. Possible interactions:
- If you paid your dues, play a happy sound! If not, play a sad sound (last warning before you're locked out).
- Play a sound for every merit badge you have earned, overlapping or in sequence. Musicality is optional but could be nice. (This is potentially a non-trivial algorithmic music composition.)
- Only play the vanity sounds once per day (rolling over at 3 am or so) so you don't get blasted repeatedly by sound effects if you're just getting things from your car.
